Our Human Resources (Recruitment) Predictions for 2011

At the end of every year there are events that you think will happen in the coming year. When those events actually occur, you wish you had told someone so that you can be justified in doing a little victory dance! Well, this year I have compiled a list, and for each prediction that comes true, a donation of £10 will be made to Mollie's Fund (a local charity). Like any good list, some of the predictions will be enlightening, others interesting, and the rest, hopefully funny. If you notice that any of these predictions have come true, you can get in touch and if I agree with you, then I will make the donation. Here we go...

  • Vacancies at FIFA are expected to grow by at least 3 in 2011.
  • More companies will take advantage of DIY Online and Fixed Fee Recruitment replacing traditional fee based models from recruitment businesses.
  • New generation CV's incorporating a range of multimedia video and audio functions will become "fashionable" for candidates.
  • Irish and Portuguese workers will become next year's migrant workers.
  • More requests for leave to get married (around the time Prince William and Kate get married) will be followed by an increase in maternity and paternity requests.
  • Candidate's online applications will increase, placing greater emphasis on candidate management and the need for an Applicant Tracking System.
  • Brand awareness via corporate career sites and social networking sites will become increasingly important in the pursuit of Talent.
  • The emergence of the Professional Employment Organisation "PEO" will be driven by the AWR and will replace "traditional" agencies.
  • Employees will increase their job switching as confidence slowly returns by Q3 of 2011.
  • High street recruitment locations will virtually disappear.

And finally, 2010 has been a difficult year for businesses large and small. We at FlexPlus hope 2011 will be a better year for all.
